Faces of Jackson County Class of 2020: Logan Knight

Meet Logan Knight! Logan is a senior at Jefferson High School and plans to attend Georgia Institute of Technology in the fall. Her parents are Billy and Becca and she has one brother. We want to congratulate Logan on her graduation and best wishes in the future.

Question: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Answer: “My parents are Billy and Becca Knight, and I have a younger brother Will Knight, who is an 8th grader at Jefferson Middle School.”

Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: “I will be attending Georgia Institute of Technology to pursue a degree in Biomedical Engineering.”

Q: What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “I love to eat at Cream & Shuga and Gringo’s.”

Q: How long have you lived in our community?
A: “I have lived in Jefferson since 2007, when I started Kindergarten at Jefferson Elementary School.”

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
A: “The most interesting ‘people’ I have met in our community are Phil and Diane Gurganus, better known as Santa and Mrs. Claus. I have worked with them at the Christmas Cottage as an elf during the past four Christmas seasons.”

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “I would want to travel to Costa Rica. Before Covid-19, Jefferson High School’s Spanish Club had planned a trip to Costa Rica in April. I would like to travel there so that I could still have the opportunity to explore the environment of Costa Rica with my friends and teachers.”

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “My favorite movie is ‘Super 8,’ and my favorite TV shows currently are ‘Outer Banks’ and other Netflix originals.”

Q: What advice would you give to people?
A: “I would advise others to always push themselves and try new things. Even when you or others have doubts, you should always believe in yourself and strive for greater things.”

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “I would like to travel through the desert, driving fast, in an open top car.”

Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: “My go to singer is Post Malone. His songs always make me want to sing and dance.”

Q: What is something you will do as soon as this COVID 19 is over?
A: “I will hug all of my friends and family.”

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
A: “I would choose to have lunch with my godmother, Elizabeth Rosner, because I would want to thank her for all of her support and help during the stressful and exciting time of college applications. We would eat at Cream and Shuga and make sure to get some iced coffee and Greek nachos.”

Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: “I love how close-knit our community is. At every Friday night football game, so many people would be there cheering on the Dragons; even at away games, the Dragons fans would sometimes out number the home team in the stands. It feels so good to be a part of such a supportive community.”

Q: Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
A: “In five years, I see myself either pursuing a higher degree of education or settling down to a fulfilling job, which coincides with my recently achieved degree. In 10 years, I see myself settling down and starting a family.”

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “I enjoy practicing Buti Yoga and aerial silks. It is great exercise and helps me de-stress after long days.”

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
A: “The most beautiful place I have ever been is Scotland, while visiting during the Jefferson High School Exchange Program.”

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “My favorite month is June, because I love spending Summer hanging out with my friends and family. My favorite holiday is Christmas, because I love visiting with extended family and being together to celebrate. My favorite day of the year is my birthday, because I love cake and parties.”

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “I would rate my school experience at Jefferson City Schools a 10/10. I’ve really enjoyed all of my teachers and the friends I have made throughout the past 13 years.”

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “My family is always inspiring me to be my best and keep pushing for my goals, even when I don’t believe in myself.”

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
A: “I love the smell of brownies in the oven and my mom’s cooking.”

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
A: “When I think of home I think of family, laughter, and cats.”
