Faces of Jackson County Class of 2020: Kaitlin Brookshire

Meet Kaitlin Brookshire! Kaitlin is a senior at Jefferson High School and plans to attend the University of North Georgia in the fall. We want to congratulate Kaitlin and her family on her upcoming graduation and best wishes in the future.

Question: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
A: “I live with my mom, dad, two brothers, grandma and uncle. We are a full house who loves to have fun!”

Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: “I plan to attend UNG majoring in Biology with a minor in Psychology.”

Q: What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “Zaxbys, Friends, Taco Bell, Gringo’s.”

Q: How long have you lived in our community?
A: “I moved here was i was 3 years old, so 15 years!”

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
A: “Charles Clark, as my English teacher in 10th grade, I was so fascinated to enter his room. He has movie posters and vinyls and his room is just so much fun to be in. Definitely the most interesting person I’ve met.”

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “Italy, or Greece. I’ve always wanted to travel to Italy and see Venice and Athens.”

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “My favorite movie is ‘Back to the Future,’ specifically the second one. My favorite shows are ‘That ‘70s Show,’ ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and ‘Shameless.’”

Q: What advice would you give to people?
A: “Don’t focus on the negative things in life, as there will always be happiness to come.”

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “Peform on Broadway.”

Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: “5 Seconds of Summer, my all time favorite band, I know every song. Also, the Arctic Monkeys.”

Q: What is something you will do as soon as COVID 19 is over?
A: “Hang out with my best friends in downtown Athens.”

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
A: “Leonardo DiCaprio, one of my favorite actors. Also, I love his activism, he is an incredible actor. We would have lunch at Gringo’s.”

Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: “The fact everyone knows everyone. It is a good place to grow up in, its a big enough small town with plenty of things to do.”

Q: Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
A: “I, hopefully, will be finishing up med school to obtain my MD; with this, I will begin my residency to become a psychiatrist. I would love to live in NYC.”

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “I can put both legs behind my head, and I am double jointed.”

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
A: “New York City, it is breathtaking.”

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “Favorite months are October, November and December— too hard to choose one! Favorite holiday is Halloween. The best single day on the calendar is December 31, a time to relive your past memories from the year, and get pumped for the memories to come.”

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “My Grandma’s potstickers and my Mom’s apple pie.”

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “The people I work with at Bojangles’, they inspire me to be the best version of myself. They are some of my best friends.”

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
A: “Apple and Mahogany Teakwood.”

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
A: “Family, Friends, and Sleep.”
