Faces of Jackson County Class of 2020: Christian Parten

Meet Christian Parten! Christian is a senior at Jefferson High School. He plans to attend Ole Miss in the fall. We want to congratulate Christian and his family on his graduation and best wishes in the future.

Question: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Answer: “I come from a very loving family who always pushes me to be my best. I have lived with my grandparents Phyllis and John Jackson for the past seven years. My mother has also been involved throughout my life and wants me to go down the right path.”

Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: “Attending Ole Miss to pursue a business management degree and a minor in music production.”

Q: What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “Gringo’s and Friends.”

Q: How long have you lived in our community?
A: “I have been involved with the community for all my life, however, I have lived here for past seven years.”

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
A: “Doug Thurmond or Bob Pittard.”

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “Sunset Cliffs because it has the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen.”

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “My favorite movie is ‘Southpaw’ and my favorite TV show is ‘Rick and Morty.’”

Q: What advice would you give to people?
A: “To never give up and to always have a smile on your face.”

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “Skydiving.”

Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: “Mac Miller.”

Q: What is something you will do as soon as this COVID 19 thing is over with?
A: “Travel all throughout Europe.”

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
A: “ASAP Rocky because he has a huge influence on my music and he is a very wise person to talk to when it comes to life. The restaurant I would take him to is Cream & Shuga.”

Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: “The pride and the involvement of our community when it comes to athletics.”

Q: Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
A: “Either still in college or opening up my on label.”

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “I’m a talent for writing music.”

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
A: “Grand Canyon.”

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “My favorite month is July. My favorite holiday is Christmas and the best single day on the calendar is July 4.”

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “Taco Bell.”

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “My grandparents and Doug Thurmond.”

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
A: “Fresh cut grass.”

Q: Finally, what three words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
A: “Being loved, feeling safe and having high expectations.”
