The Faces of Jackson County Class of 2020: Sara McMullan

Meet Sara McMullan! Sara is a senior at Jefferson High School and plans to attend the University of Georgia in the fall. Her parents are Brant and Cindy McMullan. We want to congratulate Sara on her upcoming graduation and wish her the best of luck in the future. 

Please tell us a little bit about your family.
A: “My parents are Brant and Cindy McMullan. I have two sisters. Elizabeth is a senior at the University of Kentucky and Cathryn is a freshman at Jefferson High School.”

Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: “I plan to attend the University of Georgia and major in kinesiology then pursue a career as a pediatric physician assistant.”

Q: What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “Sugar & Spice.”

Q: How long have you lived in our community?
A: “My whole life.”

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
A: “Daddy Jack.”

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “South Africa, I want to go on a safari and pet baby lions.”

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “‘The Lion King’ and Friends.'”

Q: What advice would you give to people?
A: “Be involved and do not put too much pressure on yourself! You will remember the memories and not the skipped practices. It is okay to have fun!”

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “I want to go to all 50 states and visit every continent.”

Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: “One Direction.”  

Q: What is something you will do as soon as COVID-19 is over with?
A: “Go hug my grandparents (Mimi and Daddy Joe).”

Q:If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
A: “I would take Shawn Mendes to lunch at Sugar and Spice. I’ve been a huge fan since middle school and he will be one of my all time favorite artists.”

Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: “No matter what happens we are always there for each other and that says a lot about Jefferson.”

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
A: “Five years, definitely still in school and in 10 years, starting a family.”

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “I hate regular Reese’s but love the white chocolate ones and Reese’s pieces.”

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
A: “This is really hard for me to answer because there is so much beauty in our world we just have to be willing to find it. Anything with a sunrise or sunset. Sitting on top of a roof top balcony in Madrid looking over the whole city as the sun sets.”

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “December is my favorite month, Christmas is my favorite holiday and the best single day in the calendar is Christmas Eve.”

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “All of my teachers that I’ve had throughout the years.”

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “My family and friends.”

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
A: “Good food and the beach.”

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
A: “Otis and Ace; my two dachshunds.”
