Shea is one of the most positive, friendly people I have met in Jefferson. We want to thank her for telling us a little more about herself and her love of our community.
Question: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Answer: I have three daughters – Renee, 35; Jennifer, 29; and Paige, 21 who is a junior at UGA. I also have one grandson, Jaxxon, who is 8.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
A: Since retiring from the University of Georgia I have made it my goal to help wherever I am needed. As a server at the restaurant, I have met many new people that have moved into our community. Also, I have reconnected with classmates and friends whom I had not seen since graduation. And of course, working for the talented Kay Hardy, I get to taste and eat her wonderful cuisine.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: Of course, Los Vaqueros Mexican Restaurant. I also enjoy taking my grandson to Beef O’ Brady’s where he spends all my money on toy machines!
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
A: I have lived in Jefferson all of my life. My grandson is the fifth generation of my family to attend Jefferson City Schools.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: If I could travel anywhere right now, I would love to take my daughter, Paige, to Hawaii… it has always been her dream place to visit.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: I love musicals…Grease, Hairspray, Chicago, and of course I was a “Gleek!” I loved the TV show Glee! I also enjoy watching anything on HGTV.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
A: Be nice! There is so much hatred in the world right now. It takes little effort to be kind.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: My bucket list includes visiting New York City at Christmas and Washington DC. I would also like to go on a Cruise.
Q: What is your go-to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
A: Only one band exists. Bon Jovi. My family gave me tickets to their concert several years ago, and it was the best concert ever!
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
A: I would like to have lunch with Dolly Parton. She is well known for her philanthropy, and I would love to hear her success stories. I would invite her into my home for a quiet, Southern lunch.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
A: I love how this community comes together in times of need. We have had several tragedies in the past few years, and it was emotional to see the community come together to honor and provide aid to their families.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
A: Hopefully, I will be a little more retired and can spend more time with my family.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: Most people may not know I am a pianist. I played the piano for the chorus at school and for my church.
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been to?
A: Ontario, Canada. It is so clean, and there are flowers everywhere. Second to that would be the North Georgia Mountains, especially during the fall.
