Meet Cody Cain! He was born and raised in Jefferson, and he is married to Crisden, and the couple has three children, Makaylee (16), Haylee (13), and Blakelee (7). Cody works in the family business at Billy Cain Ford in Commerce and he also serves on the Jefferson City Council.
We want to thank Cody for telling us a little about himself and what makes him feel our community is the best place to live.
Question: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Answer: “I was born and raised in Jefferson with his parents, Billy and Barbara Cain. I have a twin brother, Carter, and an older sister, Courtney. I grew up loving and playing sports here in our community and received baseball scholarships and played at both Emmanuel College and North Georgia College. My love for baseball also gave me the opportunity to coach at both of these colleges. At one point, I thought I wanted to be a teacher and coach. I earned a degree in Kinesiology and Business. During this time, I met Crisden, and we have been married for 18 years on the 12th of June.”
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
A: “I enjoy seeing people buy their first car and helping people that may have credit issues or providing options to someone ready to graduate to a newer car. Helping people is at the heart of why I love my job.”
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: Warren’s Snack Shack (formerly Owen Webb’s Snack Shack), Huck’s, The Redd House, Cabin Creek, Commerce Café, Gringo’s, Cotton Calf, Cream & Sugar, and Talmo Grill… to name a few.”
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
A: “I have lived and worked in our community all of my life. I was always going to work with his dad at Billy Cain Ford…I started with washing cars, and moved through the various departments until I ended up in sales.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
A: “Coach Jack Keen (Hall of Fame Coach for Jefferson) and Ray Lamb (Hall of Fame Coach from Commerce). They both had the best stories, and each had a huge impact on my life.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “Fiji – to see the scenery and stay in a bungalow over the water.”
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “‘Homestead Rescue’ and the Animal Channel and movies, ‘The Notebook,’ ‘300,’ ‘Heartbreak Ridge.'”
Q: What advice would you give to people?
A: “If you’re going to lie, you better have a good memory…Tell the truth, and you have nothing to worry about. Treat people the way you want to be treated.”
Q: What is your go-to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
A: “The Gaither Vocal Band, The Tams, Boys to Men, Clint Brown, any music with harmony.”
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
A: “Crawford Long Pharmacy (AKA – Fred’s).”
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch or hang out? Why?
A: “Jentzen Franklin (the pastor at Free Chapel). We would go to a UGA football game or on the lake to get back to the basics, to motivate, or to help him bring peace in hard situations. I have actually done this before.”
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
A: “As big as our community is growing, we still have a family feel.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
A: “Serving the community through the city council, helping great things to be done for the city through the city council, working at the dealership, enjoying life with my family and going to the lake.”
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
A: “Maui, Hawaii.”
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “Any month that is sunny so I can go to the lake. Thanksgiving. Mother’s Day.”
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “My wife… easy answer!”
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “Multiple people… Jentzen Franklin, my dad, my wife, my brother, and his family.”
Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
A: “This is funny, I lost his sense of smell in November of 2020, and it’s just now coming back. That being said, I likes the smell of a locker room. It takes me back to the days of playing sports and being with his teammates.”
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Q: “Family, Jefferson, Special.”
